University Email

A email address is created for all University of Sioux Falls students, faculty, and staff members when their network account is created.

In most cases, your email address will be created to follow this format:
firstname.lastname@usiouxfalls.edu
(example: John.Doe@usiouxfalls.edu)

This address will serve as the 'official' address for all university-related communications, some of which may be time-sensitive. Students, faculty and staff are expected to check their email on a frequent and consistent basis.

Computer Use Policies

Computer and network resources are provided to our students, faculty and staff to further the educational goals of the university, increase productivity, and ensure better communication regarding university matters.

Residential Network (ResNet) Access

University of Sioux Falls provides ResNet as a service for students while on campus. ResNet provides internet access to all on-campus residence hall rooms.

Wireless Network Connection For Your Laptop

Connect your laptop to the USF wireless network.
In order to connect to the Internet with your laptop, you'll need to download and install Cisco NAC agent.  Here are some basic instructions:

  • Enable wireless connectivity on your device (if it is not already)
  • Connect to the USF wireless network using your normal USF network username and password.
  • At this time, if you have the Cisco NAC Agent installed, it should pop up on your screen and you should then be able to access the Internet. (You may need to open a web browser to signal Cisco NAC Agent to start running)
  • If you do not have the Cisco NAC Agent installed, you will not have access to the Internet yet.  You will, however, be able to access our software.usiouxfalls.edu website where you can download Cisco NAC Agent and install it on your machine.

Once Cisco NAC Agent is installed and running, you should have access to the Internet.

Wireless Network Connection For Your Smartphone or Tablet

In most cases, your hand-held mobile devices (tablets and smartphones) can connect to the USF wireless network without any additional software or configuration.  If you have problems, please contact the IT Help Desk.

  • In the Wi-Fi settings of your device, connect to the USF (Secured) wireless network.
  • The default connection settings are usually ok to accept
  • Enter your USF network username and password where applicable.

Email On Your Mobile Device

Add your USF email account (and calendar) to your smartphone or mobile device.

Some specific instructions are provided below.  Click on the type icon of the type of device you own.  Some of the most common questions about settings are provided below as well.

General Settings:
Account Type: Exchange -or- Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
Mail Server
: mail24.usiouxfalls.edu
Domain: USF

Wireless Network Connection For Your Game Console or Other Network Device

For wired/wireless network access for your game console or other network device, please provide IThelpdesk@usiouxfalls.edu with the MAC address of your device.

The MAC address of your device will likely appear in one of the following formats:

  • XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX
  • XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

Once you provide us with this address, we can properly identify your system allow access to the network.
In most cases, your MAC address can be found within the NETWORK Settings of your device.
