Description

The first semester of the Traditions of the Western Heritage core sequence. The course is designed to provide students instruction and practice in writing expository essays. Additionally, the course seeks to cultivate each student's understanding of the meaning and value of a Christian liberal arts education through the study of ideas, themes, and texts that have influenced Western culture. Students explore works and culture from ancient Greece through the Reformation. Emphasis on careful reading, effective writing, critical thinking, and ethical awareness surround each topic of study. Supplemental assignments and activities outside of the traditional classroom are required.
