This course provides an introduction to evidence-based nursing practice and critical appraisal of the literature. Students learn to formulate answerable clinical questions, to search for and critique the evidence and to identify potential solutions by incorporating the highest quality evidence with patient preferences and clinical expertise. Basic principles of quantitative and qualitative research methods and research ethics are introduced. Strategies for leading change to translate evidence into practice are discussed.
