Description
The focus of this course is on the health of the community and
subgroups within the community. Students learn to integrate nursing
and public health concepts to promoting and restoring the health of
population groups while examining various roles of the
community/public health nurse. Selected community health problems
and their implications for community health nursing practice are
considered. Emphasis is placed on identifying determinants of
health, advocating for vulnerable populations, prioritizing primary
prevention and utilizing available resources to improve the health
of populations. Clinical application will provide students an
opportunity to provide nursing care to aggregates of populations
within a public health nursing model. (4 s.h.)
