Description

Field instruction is the capstone of the USF Social Work Program - the final and most critical component. Field is a required course for all social work majors. Field is where all the elements of the program curriculum are tested, applied, and integrated. Field is where theory intersects with practice. Social work practice requires the integration of knowledge, values, and skills applied in diverse settings. SOcial work education icludes scholarship and pedagogy to support learning theory, laboratory and experiential exercises to learn skills, case studies to improve skills and define values and concludes with field to integrate all of the above with practice. It provides students a "hands-on" opportunity to explore what is within their circle of knowledge, to sharpen their awareness of what they don't know, to supportively encounter ethical and values dilemmas, evaluate their practice and to plan for continued professional growth. Prerequisites: students enrolling in SWK
