Description

The study and analysis of policies, practices, research and trends within institutional corrections in America. This includes the various types of incarceration, prisoner classification, housing and assessment, institutional rehabilitation, inmate life and institutional security and management. This course will evaluate the effectiveness of incarceration in terms of cost savings, community safety and recidivism reduction, while also discussing the future of incarceration and punishment in America.
