This course will explore the role of literature and reading in our experience and culture. Our reading and conversation will focus on literature connected with sport and its function as a lens through which we understand and reflect on our lives. We will be reading a variety of genres (poetry, short fiction, novels, drama, essays), with each texttouching upon sports - sometimes directly, sometimes as context for exploring other themes. Ultimately, we will seek to acknowledge and appreciate literature as a means of expanding our awareness of both our experience and our culture. Prerequisite: LAR111. (3 s.h.)
