This course focuses on alterations of selected physiological functions that occur in response to a disease process, or compensate for common stressors like inflammation or pain. The content builds upon previous understanding of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, basic chemistry, and the usual manifestations of common diseases. Pathophysiological functions of cells and the interrelationships of body units are explored. Physiological theory and treatment implications are discussed using case situations and discussion questions that exemplify the content.
