Description
"Gender" refers to the ways in which a society formulates acceptable
and unacceptable behaviors based on beliefs, either explicit or
implicit, about sexual difference. This course explores history
through the lens of gender and poses questions including: How has
gender influenced and been influenced by the social, political,
legal, and economic developments of different societies? Why does
gender play such an important role in the way a society organizes
itself? How have ideas about gender changed over time? How have they
stayed the same? What is the relationship between gender and
feminism? Gener and sexuality? Prerequisite: at least one semester
of the LAR curriculum or the equivalent. (3 s.h.)
