This course prepares social work students to understand the importance of policy and the link between it and social work practice. They will also learn about the historical foundations of social policy practice in the profession and understand ways they can influence policy decisions to create change. Students will use their curiosity to explore policies and learn how policy decisions impact their own lives, the lives of others and their communities. The course will help students develop critical thinking skills as they assess policies and engage in self-reflection about why students understand the world the way they do.
