Description

This course introduces students to major psychological, sociological and anti-oppressive theories about human behavior in the social environment and teaches students how to apply these theories to a variety of cases and contexts. It also covers life span psychology and life course sociology knowledge relevant to assessment and anti-oppressive practice in social work. This course also introduces students to important developmental, social and cultural issues related to specific phases of life that are often relevant to practice. HBSE II addresses early adulthood through late adulthood, including end of life care and social policy issues impacting older adults. This course also includes the application of human behavior in the social environment to address community challenges. Prerequisite: SWK130 (3 s.h.)
