Description
This course builds on students' learning of generalist social work practice with individuals and families. Emphasis is placed on the Generalist Intervention Model (GIM), systems theory, ecological perspective and strengths-based practice. Students will learn to engage, assess, plan, intervene, evaluate and terminate services with clients across diverse contexts. Learning activities promote ethical decision-making, self-reflection, critical thinking and integration of evidence-informed research. Students will also apply theory to practice through case analysis and community-based experiences in preparation for Field Placements. By the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate core competencies in applying social work knowledge, skills and values in micro and mezzo practice. Prerequisites: SWK341 and SWK342 (3 s.h.)
